Laon az

Laon az script is an ‘offshoot’ of Luxeuil minuscule, characterised by its angular forms especially of the letters a and z.

The distinctive letters are evident in Laon, Bibliotheque muncipale, 423 (Isidore’s De natura rerum) – see f. 10r (type ’26’ into the page box at the bottom). The two lines above the heading can be read: sic mundi pars ima iacet, quam zona nivalis perpetuae quae premunt hiemis (Isidore, DNR, c. 9).
